A calm introduction to enjoying matcha, even for beginners

As matcha becomes more popular among companies as a corporate gift or an office refreshment, we often hear a simple but honest question:
“We received matcha — but how are we supposed to prepare it?”
Matcha can feel unfamiliar at first, especially for those who have never prepared it before. At Chotto Matcha, we believe matcha should feel approachable, calming, and easy to enjoy, not strict or complicated.
You don’t need formal tea ceremony knowledge. All you need is a few minutes and a willingness to slow down.

A Simple Way to Prepare Matcha
To get started, you only need:
Matcha powder
Hot water (around 70–80°C / 160–175°F)
A whisk (a bamboo whisk is ideal, but a milk frother works just fine)
Step 1
Add about 2g (1 teaspoon) of matcha into a cup or bowl.
Step 2
Pour a small amount of hot water (around 30ml) and gently mix until the powder is smooth and free of clumps.
Step 3
Add more hot water and whisk lightly in an “M” or “W” motion. When a soft layer of fine foam appears, your matcha is ready.
There is no single “correct” way to enjoy matcha. Some prefer it light, others more bold, and many enjoy it as a latte. What matters most is finding a rhythm that feels right for you.

Why Matcha Works Well in the Workplace
Matcha is known for its unique balance of natural compounds:
Caffeine, which supports alertness
L-theanine, which promotes calmness and mental clarity
Together, they create a state of relaxed focus — energized, but not overstimulated. That’s why matcha is often enjoyed before meetings, during creative sessions, or as a gentle afternoon reset.
Rather than pushing productivity, matcha supports a more sustainable pace of work.

More Than a Beverage
For us, matcha is more than just something you drink. It’s a small pause in a busy day — a moment to breathe, reset, and refocus.
When companies choose matcha, they’re not only offering a drink. They’re offering an experience that values well-being, intention, and mindful time.
That is the philosophy behind Chotto Matcha —bringing quiet, meaningful moments into everyday work and life.
