Mt.Fuji Matcha
Chotto Matcha began from Philippine, where we witnessed the global rise of matcha
often appreciated for its taste, yet disconnected from its origins.
Returning to Japan, we set out to reconnect matcha with its roots
working closely with tea farmers in the Mt. Fuji area and rethinking how this tradition can live within a modern lifestyle.
More than a drink, we see matcha as a quiet ritual
one that carries culture, intention, and a deeper connection between people, place, and time.
Two Japanese Sisters, Bridging Matcha Across Borders
Gen Z sisters from Japan didn’t set out to start a business—but a trip home gave them a reason to.
While visiting their grandparents in Shizuoka, they saw tea farmers struggling to survive. Demand for tea was declining, farmers were aging, and many had no one to continue the business. Some were already preparing to close.
So they started a matcha café, sourcing directly from those farms. It wasn’t just about selling drinks—it was about creating demand, supporting farmers, and keeping a fading tradition alive.
